I started this Home and DIY blog to:
1) Serve as documentation of turning our house into a home with frugal home improvements and decorating in mind for phase 1.
2) To inspire other novices to tap into their creative side.
3) Contribute to my life-long learning quest. In this case content creation and website maintenance.
After months of looking at new constructions/resales, placing bids, contracts falling apart, and agent/friend passing we finally settled on a home. This is the real estate listing image for our recently acquired foreclosure property. Unlike some others we considered, this home fortunately wasn't subjected to gutting and vandalism. However, it required significant attention and care, including garage door repairs, entrance fascia restoration, carpet replacement, painting, and various miscellaneous fixes. We decided to purchase it based on its layout, affordability, and potential for improvement. To me, the house seemed like a vast blank canvas, and my vision was to transform everything except the layout. My husband took charge of designing his man cave (recreation room), with my strategic design input, of course. As he amusingly puts it, everything else is my sandbox. Our interior design plan includes modern styles, neutral walls, pops of vibrant colors throughout, and the incorporation of dark wood elements.
